What Is Your Water Telling You?

Different water problems leave different signs. Our job is to identify what may be causing them before recommending a solution. Understand what may be affecting your water, plumbing, fixtures, and appliances.

White Scale & Spots

White scale on faucets, showerheads, glass, or appliances
This may indicate elevated water hardness.

Orange or Brown Staining

Orange or reddish stains on sinks, tubs, toilets, or laundry
This may indicate iron in the water.

Chlorine Taste or Odor

Noticeable chlorine taste or smell
Chlorine is commonly used in municipal water treatment, but some homeowners prefer to reduce it at the point of use or throughout the home.

Corrosion or Unusual Staining

Corrosion, blue-green staining, or signs of aggressive water
Low pH may contribute to corrosion in certain plumbing systems.

What We Test — and What the Results Can Tell Us

Town Water or Private Well? The Right Approach Can Be Different.

Your water source matters. That’s one reason we test before recommending equipment.

Town / Municipal Water

Municipal water is treated before it reaches your home. Depending on your location and household concerns, homeowners may still want to evaluate:

  • Chlorine taste or odor
  • Water hardness
  • pH
  • Iron where applicable

The goal is not to assume treatment is necessary — it's to determine whether your home's water would benefit from additional treatment.

Private Well Water

Well water conditions can vary significantly from one property to another.

Our in-home assessment can screen for:

  • Hardness
  • Iron
  • pH

and help identify visible water-quality symptoms that may require further evaluation or treatment.

How Our Water Quality Assessment Works

STEP 1

Understand Your Water Concerns

We start by asking what you’ve been noticing in your home — scale, staining, taste, odor, corrosion, or other water-related concerns.

STEP 2

Test the Water

We perform our complimentary in-home assessment for hardness, chlorine, iron, and pH.

STEP 3

Explain the Results

We show you what we found, explain what the results mean, and connect them to the symptoms you’re seeing in your home.

STEP 4

Recommend the Right Treatment

If treatment makes sense, we’ll recommend a solution based on your actual water conditions — whether that’s softening, filtration, pH correction, or a combination of treatments.

If we don’t find a reason to recommend treatment, we’ll tell you that too.

STEP 5

Professional Installation & Support

If you choose to move forward, our licensed plumbing professionals install the selected system and explain how to operate and maintain it.

Qualifying systems include manufacturer and/or workmanship warranty coverage as specified in your proposal.

Why Homeowners Choose JN Service HVAC and Plumbing for Water Treatment

Water treatment shouldn’t start with a salesperson telling you which system to buy.

At JN Service, we start with your home, your water source, the problems you’re experiencing, and the results of your assessment.

Our licensed plumbing professionals combine water treatment with a broader understanding of your home’s plumbing systems, water heater, fixtures, and appliances — so the recommendation is made with the entire home in mind.

Test first. Understand the problem. Treat only what needs to be treated.
